Justin Pugh Scouting Report

Syracuse offensive tackle Justin Pugh is an above-average pass blocker with a great frame that was an All-Big East first team player in his last two seasons.

Pugh moves very well for his height. Could afford to add some more bulk through his core, but strength is not a big concern. An excellent pass protector. Mirrors very well and shows a nice hand punch to throw defenders off line. Uses opponents' momentum to his advantage very well and plays with enough balance to avoid collapsing when bull-rushed.

Bends well at the waist and knee as a run blocker. Pad level is above-average in consistency (even late in games) compared to other tackles. Can handle his own when zone blocking. Really looks to unload when blocking in the open field.

Has a good mean streak and finishes plays hard. Above-average awareness when spotting the blitz. Can move cleanly to the second level, but will occasionally play too aggressive and miss a solid block by lunging.

Pugh is a hard-working prospect and should hear his name called in the late-second to early third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
