2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Christian Jones, ILB, Florida State

The well-built Jones was one of the anchors in Florida State's defense over most of his collegiate career. A physical specimen with above-average athleticism, he projects as a middle round player with some long-term upside to become an eventual full-time starter at the next level.

Not particularly fast or agile. Lacks an ideal second gear with his straight line speed. Moves around better laterally. Above-average change of direction. Can handle coverage against bigger tight ends given his length. Flexible in where he can play and what he can do. Could possibly backup multiple linebacker spots early in his career, while being groomed for one specific role. Long legs.

Average hand use when disengaging from blockers. Not a great pass-rusher. Lacks the bend to really hit the edge. Still improving. Tough player with intensity for the game. Never particularly productive in college. Must show versatility in 4-3 and contribute on special teams.

Jones projects as a fourth round prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft.
