2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State

An undersized corner who has to play bigger than his size, Joyner is a well-rounded prospect with experience all over the defensive secondary. He will have to prove to scouts that his lack of size won't hurt his ability to play with the big boys in the NFL.

Doesn't shy away from contact and can make clutch tackles in the open field. Delivers a lot of pop considering his size. Excellent fundamentals in coverage. Reads and reacts quickly with little to no wasted motion. Can quickly diagnose run versus pass. Average ability to break on the ball. Tracks the ball well and has good body control when up in the air to contest a pass. Aggressively goes after the football to disrupt the catch.

Showed decent range when at safety. Average straight line speed given his height. Good, but not great technique in his lower half. May not have the hip fluidity to cover slot receivers. Looks to stay physical with receivers throughout their routes. Uses physicality to his benefit in press coverage.

Joyner projects as a late first to early second round prospect for the 2014 NFL Draft.
