2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Kareem Martin, DE , North Carolina

Martin tested out very well at the NFL combine and because of that, he is now climbing most draft boards. Now securely considered a Top 100 prospect, Martin should be a lock to be selected in the early rounds.

An excellent size-strength-speed candidate. Projects as a 4-3 DE and would need to add a lot of bulk to transition to 3-4 DE. Really peaked as a senior with 11.5 sacks and 21.5 TFLs. Big hands, good speed, above-average length and position-best broad jump. Started every game for the last three seasons. Average burst off the line. Shows good awareness to feel the play. Doesn't have ideal change of direction or agility. Relies on his upper body strength and could afford to add some strength in his lower half. Inconsistent technique. Lunges too often and will get off-balance. Can anchor relatively well against double teams. As long as his pad level is good, he can succeed because of his long arms.

Decent motor. Didn't fare that well against UVA's Morgan Moses. Can quickly set the edge. Good pursuit through traffic. Can stack and shed quickly. Above-average speed to power moves.

Martin projects as a third round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Prediction: 3rd Round

I don't think this guy is being talked about enough. If a team with a 4-3 defense can be patient and coach him up, they could have a nice find on their hands.
