2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame

With 52 career starts, Martin should be remembered as one of the better offensive linemen in Notre Dame's illustrious history. Some scouts are in disagreement on whether he projects as a tackle or guard in the NFL; however, Martin can and should excel at either spot.

Martin is a really intelligent player and consistently displayed excellent awareness in understanding his own pass protection responsibilities. Really great hand fighting technique. Understands he must get his hands on his man as quickly as possible in order to dictate the matchup. Surprising athleticism and foot speed. Really great effort on every down.

Better at in-line blocking and good aggression on every play. Average out in space or when zone-blocking. Good foot slide. Just a touch undersized for tackle and some may prefer him as a guard. At the very worst, could be a career backup at four of five OL positions. Will need to reassure scouts he has the foot speed on his kick slide to handle NFL-quality pass rushers.

Martin projects as a late first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
