2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Craig Loston, SS, LSU

Despite his average straight line-speed, Loston can make a big impact on the football field. He is a hard-hitter who can separate the football from the man and there is always a place on a team for such players.

A highly regarded high school player. Good anticipation when in zone coverage. Plays best downhill and aggressive. Above-average feel for sniffing out routes and breaking onto he football. Over-aggressive on the ball. Leaves feet too often when tackling. Always seems to be looking for the highlight reel tackle. Needs to wrap up better and play more under control.

Rarely makes plays on the football. Short arms, below-average leaping. Better against the run. Technically inefficient in coverage. Lots of wasted motion. Tape looked better last year when on the field with current 49ers safety Eric Reid.

Loston projects as a fifth-rounder in the 2014 NFL Draft.
