2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Paul Posluszny, ILB, Penn State

Paul Posluszny elected to return for his senior year at Penn State after sustaining a knee injury in the 2006 Orange Bowl. Although the injury did not require surgery, Posluszny appears to be back to playing at full strength with no limitations. During his extensive rehabilitation workouts, not only did his knee return to 100 percent, but, he added about 10 pounds of muscle. He is an exceptional leader on the field and was named co-captain on the team his junior year. Posluszny is a tough player who excels in the open field and rarely misses a tackle. He has excellent instincts and quickly accelerates to pursue the ball carrier. Posluszny is athletic enough to cover sideline to sideline and drop into pass coverage. He uses his hands well to stave off blockers and disrupt the quarterbacks' passing lanes at the line of scrimmage. Posluszny is a pure linebacker and proved his versatility in 2006 when he was asked to move from his outside linebacker position to middle linebacker. Although he struggled early, he adjusted and went on to repeat as the Bednarik Award as the Defensive Player of the Year. He also won the Butkus Award in 2005. Although his knee may be a question to some teams, look for Posluszny to be a mid-to-late first round selection.
