Daniel Westra's Mock Draft 0.4 (Round 1)

1 - KC: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
The Chiefs are terrible. They need to replug their operations, and that starts with firing their terrible GM, Scott Pioli. Otherwise, you need to start with a quarterback. Geno Smith is the top quarterback in the draft, and the senior from West Virginia is an extraordinary dual-threat quarterback with great pocket passing ability and currently has the most potential of any QB to be #1 overall.

2 - JAX: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
The Jaguars appear to be in a rebuild mode, and it appears that Gene Smith won't be returning next offseason. Since there is no quarterback prospect worthy of this selection, the new GM must start with a defensive player. They claimed Jason Babin off waivers, which will be a huge plus to their defense. They need to use this selection to complement him, and that starts with taking Jarvis Jones, the DE/OLB hybrid from Georgia, who is the best pass rusher in the draft.

3 - OAK: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
The Raiders have shown time and time again to be the dirtiest organization in football. Tommy Kelly was just ejected for fighting against the Bengals, and he needs to be cut. Thankfully, there is a great replacement available with this selection, Star Lotulelei. Lotulelei is a talented defensive tackle out of Utah, and is very NFL-ready. He would immediately provide a positive impact on the Raiders defense.

4 - PHI: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
The Eagles problems start with their offensive line, which have blocked productions in all aspects of their game. Andy Reid should be fired, and any new coach would not force Todd Herremans to move to tackle, and he should move back to his natural guard position. That means they must select a tackle with this pick, and the top tackle is Luke Joeckel from Texas A&M. The NFL-ready tackle would provide an instant upgrade to the Eagles offensive line, and this pick is a "must do" for the Eagles.

5 - DET: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
Detroit should draft Manti Te'o if they plan a recoup. The Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL on-paper, and something isn't going right in their locker room. Manti Te'o would bring a healthy presence to their lockerroom, and would bolster their linebacking corps.

6 - SD: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
San Diego has the pieces to succeed, but they need an offensive line to increase production. All guards and tackles have been terrible, and they need to take multiple offensive lineman early to secure Phillip Rivers's safety.Chance Warmack, an offensive guard from Alabama, is the most talented offensive guard to enter the NFL draft in years. He is prepared to step in immediately, and any team would be lucky to get an instant upgrade. The Chargers need him, and shouldn't pause when taking him.

7 - BUF: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Although Buddy Nix said he plans to take a quarterback, I don't see him stretching on Tyler Wilson/Tajh Boyd/Logan Thomas. The Bills must think of drafting an offensive lineman in this draft to protect their future quarterback, for Chris Hairston is not a good option at right tackle. Taylor Lewan is one of the top offensive tackles in the draft, and would be a solid fit for Buffalo here.

8 - CLE: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
Cleveland must draft a replacement for Scott Fujita, an old weak side linebacker. It would be ideal to draft Manti Te'o and move Jackson to his natural weakside spot. Damontre Moore is one of the top players in the draft, and the Titans should take the chance and jump and select him. Moore is a uniquely talented player, and would be a great selection here to replace Fujita.

9 - CAR: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
e Panthers decided not to take a defensive tackle last draft, feeling they could put off the need. I highly doubt they feel the same, for backup halfbacks have massacred their defense. They need to start with a defensive tackle, for Dwan Edwards and Sione Fua have been miserable up front. They need to transfer to a 3-4, for they have two great inside linebackers, and they should draft Hankins to play nose tackle, his natural position that he played at Ohio St.

10 - TEN: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
I look at Tennessee's defensive depth chart, and I see one massive hole, Alterraun Verner. Verner has been smoked by many wide receivers this season, and they desperately need an upgrade across McCourty. Dee Milliner is the top defensive back this season, and should get similar looks as Morris Claiborne got last draft. Milliner is very talented, and Tennessee desperately needs him, making this a great fit.

11 - ARI: Matt Barkley, QB, USC
I see one massive hole in the Cardinals depth chart, quarterback. All three starters there have been terrible, and Larry Fitzgerald must be begging for a new quarterback. Matt Barkley is currently the 2nd most talented quarterback in this draft, and I am sure he would be happy to become a Cardinal. Larry Fitzgerald will be begging for a quarterback, and somebody of Barkley's 'prestige' would definitely attract Fitzgerald to the quarterback.

12 - TB: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
The Buccaneers decided that they didn't like Morris Claiborne at 5 last year, and paid the price for not taking him. Matter of fact, they traded starter Aqib Talib to New England, so they are desperate for a cornerback. Banks is a good fit for Tampa. He plays talented wide receivers in the SEC, and has succeeded in covering wideouts. Banks would be an immediate upgrade over the current option, and Tampa needs him badly.

13 - MIA: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
It appears that Jake Long will not return to Miami. They should draft a replacement. Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have been raving about Fisher, calling him a "special" player. Fisher would be an adequate replacement for Long, and they should take him here.

14 - NYJ: Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State
Amen! I think Mike Tannenbaum has given up on Tebow/Sanchez, and has moved to Greg McElroy as starting quarterback. McElroy had a good game against Arizona, but we can't expect for that to continue. I envision the Jets trading/cutting Sanchez and/or Sanchez and keeping McElroy. They should draft another quarterback in this scenario, and I have heard that many General Manager's think that Glennon could be a top pick. The talent from NC State would be a great option to lead the Jets in the future.

15 - NO: Jonathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia
The Saints must draft a defensive tackle here to replace Sedrick Ellis, a bust defensive tackle who is a free agent this offseason. John Jenkins is the best defensive tackle available, and has anchored the bulldogs defense this offseason.

16 - STL: Keenan Allen, WR, California
Sam Bradford has been deprived of a talented wide receiver, which in turn (with terrible pass protection) has stunted his NFL development. St. Louis's first action must be to draft a wide receiver, and atop all boards is Keenan Allen, the athletic wide receiver from Cal. Allen is the most NFL-ready wide receiver in the draft, and would definitely help Bradford's NFL growth.

17 - PIT: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
James Harrison will likely not be back next year. He is due $6.6 million, and I don't expect the Steelers to abide by that. They will seek a rush linebacker if they replace him, and Mingo, a 3-4 OLB, would be a great replacement. It is a necessity to draft Bingo here, a hybrid DE/OLB who is an NFL-ready LSU product and would be an immediate replacement for Harrison.

18 - DAL: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Boy, did the Cowboys get lucky here. Werner is top ten talent who happened to fall in this mock draft. The Cowboys did not select J.J. Watt in 2009, and paid the penalty of poor pass rushing from the defensive line for the past two years (although Tyron Smith's great blocking may have been worth it). Regardless, they need to select a pass rusher, and Bjoern Werner is the second best defensive end in the draft, and would provide an immediate force to the Cowboys defensive line.

19 - CHI: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Anybody who watches Bears football sees that their offensive line is not good. Cooper, an Outland Award (top interior lineman) finalist and All-American, has shown to be a top blocker all season at UNC. He would be an immediate upgrade over Chris Williams at left guard.

20 - MIN: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia
Minnesota has really struggled with rush passing. Jasper Brinkley has been terrible, and the Vikings should seek a replacement. Alec Ogletree has had a monster season with Georgia, and would be an upgrade over Brinkley.

21 - CIN: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Like Mark Barron, Kenny Vaccaro has shown that he has the talent to be a mid-first round selection in this draft. Taylor Mays was so terrible this year that Nate Clements was forced to move from Slot CB to SS, and must move back to cornerback next season. Kenny Vaccaro has shown the ability to start immediately in the NFL, and would be a perfect fit for the Bengals.

22 - STL: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
As I stated above, Sam Bradford has been deprived of a receiver, and protection. Barry Richardson has been terrible this year, and needs an upgrade.. Matthews, son of Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews has succeeded in the SEC, and should have a practically seamless transition to the NFL.

23 - NYG: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
I expect that the Giants will move Mathias Kiwanuka back to defensive end to replace the hole that Osi will leave this offseason.Dion Jordan is a quick, athletic stud out of Oregon who has shown the ability to a hybrid DE/OLB. A hybrid player like Jordan would be a great, immediate starter at Outside Linebacker for the Giants.

24 - IND: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
The Colts have some work to do on their defense. Their pass rush may have held up this year, but it won't next year. Mathis and Freeney are getting old, and they need to look for replacements either this draft or next. Sam Montgomery, a hybrid DE/OLB who is an LSU product, would be a great selection here because he could be a successor to Freeney and/or Mathis or become an immediate starter over the terrible Clifton Geathers.

25 - BAL: Khaseem Greene, OLB, Rutgers
Time and time again the Ravens have shown they need a future successor to Ray Lewis. Khaseem Greene's stock has risen this year, and posted great numbers this year while leading Rutgers' defense. I expect Greene to be drafted in one of the first two rounds, and would be a great eventual replacement to Ray Lewis at inside linebacker.

26 - GB: Corey Lemonier, DE, Auburn
The Packers drafted Jerel Worthy to play defensive tackle last draft, but were forced to move him over to the end position because C.J. Wilson has failed this year. Lemonier is top talent, and would be a great replacement. Lemonier put up great numbers this season, and has looked NFL-ready all season long. Lemonier would be a great start immediately, or could transition to a starter while starting a reserve if necessary.

27 - SEA: Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
The Seahawks can't deprive Russell Wilson from a top wide receiver. He needs a target, and Hunter would be suited towards that role. Justin Hunter is very ready for primed NFL production, and the aggressive wideout would be a great compliment to Rice if needed, and has the potential to break out with help.

28 - NE: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Wes Welker will be gone. The Patriots have not valued him highly enough, and he will leave for a team that does. So, that leaves a hole opposite Brandon Lloyd. Austin, the 5'9" wide receiver from West Virginia is short, he has shown the ability to play in the NFL. Austin is a fun player to watch, for he also has taken snaps at running back, and would be a great flex player for the Patriots in the future.

29 - SF: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
I understand that the 49ers drafted a wide receiver with their first round pick last year, but the need is still there. Terrance Williams has shown that he is worth a first round pick, having succeeded with and without RG3 on the field. Williams would be a good fit into the 49ers wideout corps, and I could easily see him playing alongside Jenkins, Moss, or Crabtree. Williams would also be very beneficial to the development of Kaepernick, which is why the Niners must select him.

30 - DEN: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina
The Broncos drafted Derek Wolfe last year to become a defensive tackle. However, he has proven to be a great defensive end, and won himself the starting job. That still leaves a hole at defensive tackle. Not to mention that Williams is a top-15 prospect, he would be a great fit. Williams posted great numbers this season, and should be a first round selection. Williams would be an immediate upgrade over Kevin Vickerson at defensive tackle.

31 - ATL: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
I expect Tony Gonzalez to retire this offseason. Tyler Eifert, the 6'8" tight end out of Notre Dame, would be a great replacement. Eifert is NFL ready, and would be a great fit either as a TE-H or TE-Y into the Falcons pass-balanced offense.

32 - HOU: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
The Texans need to find a safety to replace the inconsistent Grover Quin, who is also a free agent. Elam, a safety out of Florida, has shown that he is NFL ready with great performance all season long that, which in return bolstered his draft stock. Elam would be a great, immediate fit into the Texans rock-solid defense.
