Updated slightly 2/19 pre-combine/free agency

1 - JAX: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
(changed from Matt Barkley due to his injury) Jax has said they are committed to Gabbert (for now). New HC is a former DC from Sea they built it with DBs and Defense...Trufant fills the next need after Pass rusher who they took in round 1 and a QB (Gabbert) whom they are keeping) Third need is a CB and they got a dandy here. Add it up this pick makes all kinds of sense. As for Barkley he falls to at least the 3rd round.
2 - SF: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
(From KC for Alex Smith) *Not complete yet*
3 - KC: Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
(Trade from Philly; Chagned from Tyler Wilson) KC doesn't go QB here because more and more looks like Reid will let Cassel play out the last year on his contract. KC making adding key defensive pieces an imperative this draft. They pull the trigger because Jones won't fall further. Drafting Jones as a 3-4 DE to play in a 3-4 that's the logic that was missing in KC.
4 - DET: Margus Hunt, DE, Southern Methodist
Some would say this is a reach here but Hunt's size is just to much to resist. Going Milliner first round, Lions look at this spot to replace the recently "let go" Van Bosch.
5 - CIN: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
Cincy chooses Safety here over RB, because the law firm is serviceable in their eyes and they figure RB can wait until next round with not a lot seperating them this year.
6 - ARI: Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
The pre combine injury will hurt Dysert so Arians goes with Wilson here being the best uninjured QB left.
7 - NYJ: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Ryan likes'em BIG, NYJ need an RT and an RT is what they get and its no Fluke(r)
8 - TEN: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Keeping on the line, Titans go with an abled body able to open those lanes for CJ2K and to protect Locker better. How can Tenn not draft Cooper at this spot? First round talent, but guard isn't a highly valued in the NFL so to go in the first round you have to be truly special. Only real difference between Warmack and Cooper is that Warmack won the National Title game(s) with Alabama...that's something special in nfl scout eyes.
9 - KC: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
(from Jacksonville through Buf in earlier trade). Chiefs could use a wide out here but seeing BPA on their board being Poyer they jump at the chance to draft him here. Those extra picks already paying off. Not only is he a starting caliber CB but he's also a return man...using this pick to draft over Arenas.
10 - MIA: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Once again Defense numbers game causes Banks to fall to the 42nd spot overall. About right for him from what I've seen.
11 - TB: Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
By far the BPA Tampa makes this pick to replace Bennett.
12 - CAR: Eric Reid, FS, LSU
A nice pick up here.
13 - SD: Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky
A decent pic here, more line help and improvement to keep rivers up right.
14 - PIT: Robert Woods, WR, USC
(trade from StL) This is a value pick here as well as a pick to replace Wallace in case they don't sign him in the off season. If they sign Wallace they still make this pick and use Woods to complement him.
15 - DAL: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
Falls this far because of a lot of nfl teams switching to 3-4 as well as character issues surrounding Montgomery. But fortunately Dallas won't mind drafting someone who may have character/off the field issues. Montgomery is drafted to complement Ware in Kiffin's 4-3 Tampa 2 defense.
16 - PIT: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
A great pick here. Steelmen probably won't resign Mendenhall and Season has shown Dwyer needs the competition to get him going. A rushing lb might be more a need in fans but getting an RB from the National Champs will make a decent consulation prize.
17 - NYG: Khaseem Greene, OLB, Rutgers
A LB upgrade from what they have to boot one of the two fa lbs will walk. Greene replaces them.
18 - CHI: Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas State
Repalcing Urlacher (eventually) no easy feat but Brown is up to it and will pleasantly surprise Bears fans
19 - WAS: Phillip Thomas, SS, Fresno State
An immediate upgrade to a lackluster secondary that's not saying much. Thomas projects as a FS at the pro level so drafting him with intent on having him play FS.
20 - MIN: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina
A DT that has dropped due to numbers game of the plethora of all kinds of Defensive players out this year and someone to complement Jared Allen on the interior. They would prefer G or LB here but there just aren't any worth taking in the 2nd round this late and will attempt to pick them up in a later round. Why reach now? Sly will rotate in at NT most likely to give more depth to that Min d-line.
21 - CIN: Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
Hoping Bernard can make this position a legitimate threat for them again, something the law firm just couldn't do last season.
22 - MIA: Dallas Thomas, OT, Tennessee
Pre-draft injuries are a funny thing...my how the mighty have fallen. Thomas should be a suitable replacement should Long choose to leave
23 - GB: Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
With Driver gone Patton will be a nice replacement.
24 - SEA: Marquise Goodwin, WR, Texas
Carroll generally drafts WR in the 2nd round best i can tell and he gets a burner here to give wilson that deep threat that Seattle needs.
25 - HOU: David Bakhtiari, OT, Colorado
A replacement has been found for Newton
26 - DEN: Logan Ryan, CB, Rutgers
Den will have to replace Champ Bailey sooner then later at 37 years of age how much more gas is in the tank.
27 - NE: Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State
Another CB to complement Talib, Belichik dipping into the BSU secondary with a 2nd round draft pick again this year.
28 - ATL: Travis Frederick, C, Wisconsin
A Round two selection yes, a bit of a surprise yes especially with Konz. They move Konz to G and place Frederick at C to sure up that interior line.
29 - SF: Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International
Fills a need and Harbaugh likes guys who are sleepers. This isn't a reach this kid at SS has all the skills for the next level. Harbaugh goes off the beaten trail again for yet another successful pick.
30 - BAL: Nico Johnson, ILB, Alabama
The ILB Bal is looking for generally thought of as a 3rd-4th rounder, this kids stock will rise come combine.
31 - OAK: Collin Klein, QB, Kansas State
PLEASE READ: THIS PICK IS SPACE FILLER ONLY. NOT my real prediction at this pick. Fact is Oak doesn't get a 2nd round pick but FFTOOLBOX won't let me cancel a draft spot for a complete mock. THIS IS JUST TO FILL SPACE SO I CAN POST MY DRAFT the picks 1-30 ARE WHAT THINK WILL HAPPEN 31 and 32 ARE SPACE FILLERS FOR FFTOOLBOX ONLY
32 - CLE: Bradley McDougald, FS, Kansas
PLEASE READ: THIS IS FFTOOLBOX SPACE FILLER, NOT MY ACTUAL SELECTION HERE. FACT: Browns don't get a 2nd round pick but FFTOOLBOX WON'T let me CANCEL the pick so I HAD TO PUT SOMETHING. IS IT MORE CLEAR NOW...HOW MUCH MORE OF THIS ISN'T THE REAL CHOICE CAN I MAKE IT MAYBE THE CAPS GRABBED YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE READ

Average -- Even if the Vikes go WR round 1, they should not pass on Patton round 2. I'd even take Dallas Thomas to fill a bigger need than Short, even tho Short is a great value.

-- With Harvin, Hunter and Rudolph why not get the BPA DT in short its teh vikes 2nd biggest need also thomas injury costs him draft status imo

Poor -- What's he smoking????

Poor -- Kicker in the 1st round for the 9ers? You lost credibility you ever smelled. 9ers needs are DE, S, CB, and WR. Kickers are found in free agency or deep in the draft not the first round.

-- This is my 2ND round actually. I have them selecting Kawan Short DT in their first round

Above Average -- Not what I would pick but nice job. the picks make sense and somebody ACTUALLY did research before making a mock, imagine that. Making a 2nd round mock gives alot of insight to ones 1st round. Bravo my friend.

Excellent -- A DT to replace Jared Allen? Apparently you've never seen Jared Allen pay...DE..btw DT isn't the Vikes 2nd biggest need, G is, followed by LB.
Monday, February 4, 2013 3:05 PM
Excellent -- OH RIIIGHT because teams never draft a DT to play DE in the NFL EVER in the NFL HISTORY....
Wednesday, February 6, 2013 7:55 PM
Excellent -- Bengals picks seem to be right on target.

Average -- If the Packers get Patton, I'd be happy. The lost two picks in the 2nd round make no sense. Guess you're some kind of KU/K-State homer? Klien would be lucky to be drafted in the 5th or 6th and McDougal is the same.

-- For the above reader commenting about the "last two picks" if you read the notes under the picks you'd see they are just SPACE FILLERS and I SAY THAT. Pleae read next time or is something over 40 characters beyond your attention span.

Above Average -- No way Colin Klein gets drafted in the second!!!! Lol just playin nicely done.
Tuesday, February 19, 2013 10:07 PM
Above Average -- You may be right with Sly Williams to Minny round 2, but there's absolutely no reason for them to try to convert him to DE when they already have 3 probowl caliber talents there. He will rotate NT with Fred Evans.
