Jeremy Gauden's Mock Draft (Round 1)

Average Rank: 3.5 out of 5 (2 votes) -- Rank This Mock Draft

1 - KC: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Geno Smith is the sexy pick but I like Joeckel here and Reid loves his lineman.
2 - JAX: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Jaguars need a pass rush and every defensive end they draft or bring in never pans out. Hopefully Werner does.
3 - OAK: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Oakland may lose Seymour and Kelly isn't much of anything. Lotulelei will join Lamarr Houston on the line.
4 - PHI: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Jason Peters is hurt almost yearly now and they can't seem to find a valid backup in Philly.
5 - DET: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
Vanden Bosch was cut and Avril may leave. The Lions will probably give Willie Young a shot and will add Moore to the other side.
6 - CLE: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
Ray Horton will bring the 3-4 to Cleveland and Mingo is a picture perfect pick right here.
7 - ARI: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
With Fisher and Joeckel off the board Arians gets his next project, Geno Smith.
8 - BUF: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
Barnett was cut and none of the quarterbacks could be taken here without calling it a reach.
9 - NYJ: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
Devito is a free agent and Pouha's play has declined, not that he was anything great to begin with. Hankins is just one piece of the puzzle though.
10 - TEN: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
By far the biggest need in Tennessee. I look for the Titans to add two interior offensive lineman in the first 4 rounds.
11 - SD: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Chargers whole offesnive line needs revamped.
12 - MIA: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Miami has a good bit of needs but their secondary, especially safety is very weak. The WR position is deep and the Phins can get one with one of their two second round picks.
13 - TB: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Tampa Bay may take two cornerbacks in the first 3 or 4 rounds.
14 - CAR: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
This always seems to be a need for the Panthers but they never properly address it.
15 - NO: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
Saints move to the 3-4 makes their list of needs a tad bigger. They need the guy who can play OLB in the 3-4.
16 - STL: Keenan Allen, WR, California
St. Louis can afford to take a wide out here because they have a pick 6 slots from now.
17 - PIT: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
Pittsburgh has a lot of needs. Sean Spence isn't healing as fast as they would like and Larry Foote is nearing the end of his career. Virtually any position on defense is a need.
18 - DAL: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Jon Cooper will be a good add to the Cowboys offensive line, which outside of Tyron Smith, struggles.
19 - NYG: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Umenyoria is nearing the end of his career and Justin Tuck isn't getting younger either. Ansah is raw but talented and can make a good duo with Pierre-Paul in the future.
20 - CHI: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
This could be a reach but the Bears haven't had a good tight end since I don't know when, maybe Greg Olsen.
21 - CIN: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
Rey Maualuga is turning into a bust. Cincinnati has to sure up the defense from the linebackers back to make them a serious contender.
22 - STL: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
The Rams gamble at 16 by taking Allen and still end up with the tackle they need in Fluker.
23 - MIN: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
With all the talk of Harvin leaving the Vikings need to look at draft prospects and possibly free agency to give Ponder some targets. It will be a bigger problem if the talk becomes reality.
24 - IND: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
The Colts need a nose tackle and some rush linebackers but they are in a division that forces them to see Andre Johnson twice.
25 - SEA: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
Picking Kawann short over Jesse Williams and John Jenkins may seem weird but the pass rush ability is why this pick is made.
26 - GB: Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
Williams can play nose tackle and in this defense he can play defensive end.
27 - HOU: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Austin has speed and can be a deep threat that opens up the middle for Johnson and Daniels, not that their run game does the job.
28 - DEN: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
I know Bailey is coming back but it could be his last year. They also need a linebacker and a defensive tackle so either position is a nice add.
29 - NE: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
The Pats could go with a pass rusher like Sam Montgomery here but I like Hopkins at 29 for them. Welker looks like he is leaving but that leaves them only Edelman and Lloyd at wide receiver.
30 - ATL: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
Montgomery doesn't make it past Atlanta unless they decide to take a tight end or running back here.
31 - SF: Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
San Francisco is going to need a 3-4 defensive lineman. Justin Smith is 32 or 33 and will retire soon, maybe.
32 - BAL: Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas State
This could be Alec Ogletree but I recently read that his off field issues could harm him. On that note, Arthur Brown is a highly touted prospect and would fill the hole Baltimore has at ILB.

Below Average -- Way too high on Hankins. Too low on Patterson. Steelers will not touch Te'o in round 1
