3/3 Zdizzlzz's Mock Draft (Round 2)

Author's Comments

Before I get nuked from Orbit about my Warmack pick, let me ask you a question. Would you rather keep a proven top 10-15 LT or draft an unproven rookie LT (who may not even be the best o-linemen in the draft)? They already have a solid starter in Winston at RT while the Guard play has been suspect at times. Lilja just retired leaving a hole to be filled at the OG spot. This pick makes soo much more sense to me than anything else (besides trading down to get him or Cooper later in the draft). If salary is an issue, I'd rather release garbage-time (great 4th quarter production down +14 points playing against second stringers) hero Bowe. Jackson and/or Dorsey will be gone by this time around next year. There will be plenty of cap space then. With that being said, I don't really have an excuse for the Jets pick other than I believe history will repeat itself with teams reaching for QBs who desperately need them. I don't mind taking criticism for that, just a gut feeling I have.

1 - KC: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
Resign or franchise Albert, work on creating one of the better O-Lines in NFL. God knows Alex Smith will need it.
2 - JAX: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
Need more pressure from the edge; no QB is worth taking this high.
3 - OAK: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Will most likely lose two key DTs, need replacements.
4 - PHI: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
A replacement for Jenkins sounds nice, but lets improve that O-Line a bit.
5 - DET: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Avril has one foot out the door and Bosch is getting too old.
6 - CLE: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
Can't give up on Weeden yet, need to improve the pass rush
7 - ARI: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
OT or QB ? Gotta go with a top tier OT that's still available
8 - BUF: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Go with the biggest need here with the best QB in the draft. There's no WR or ILB worth taking here anyway. Resign Levitre!
9 - NYJ: Matt Barkley, QB, USC
I just have one of those feelings that a team is going to make a mistake in picking a QB too early fearing they will miss out on one in round 2. Sanchez has been terrible and the Jets may just pull the trigger.
10 - TEN: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Tough call between Milliner and Cooper, but I think helping to re-establish the run game is more important.
11 - SD: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
The offensive line is an issue, but the premier linemen have all been taken. Jammer could use some help across from him and the best CB is still on the board.
12 - MIA: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
The elite OTs and CB are off the board. WR or DT is the question here. I still think it's too early for a WR in this class plus there is a monster still on the board because of potential health issues.
13 - TB: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
CB is a huge concern. It's worth reaching a bit to fulfill a major need.
14 - CAR: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
First Kuechly now Hankins. Another stud falls into their lap to help fill a need.
15 - NO: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
Can you name me the pass rushers on the Saints? That's what I thought.
16 - STL: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Let's help out Sam Bradford.
17 - PIT: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
The biggest question to me is whether they build upon maintaining a dominant defense or find a replacement for Wallace. I really like their options between Ansah or Mingo, so pass rush it is.
18 - DAL: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
I doubt Cooper falls this far down making any OG pick here quite a reach. They need help at SS and DT. There seems to be more depth at DT so let's pick up the best safety in the draft.
19 - NYG: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Ansah or Fluker? Go for the best defensive player available that isn't a reach. May be able to help improve the linebacking play and pass rush.
20 - CHI: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Terrible O-Line, A stretch pick here but their need-pick here is far greater than just taking the best player on the board.
21 - CIN: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
They desperately need better LB play; Te'o might be able to help.
22 - STL: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Not quite sure another safety is worth being taken here while a legit #1 WR prospect is still on the board.
23 - MIN: Keenan Allen, WR, California
Harvin looks like he'll be gone shortly. They will need a replacement ASAP.
24 - IND: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
Davis needs some help beside him and any OT pick here would be a HUGE stretch.
25 - SEA: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
I don't think Austin is a #1 WR in any system, let's make that defense even more ferocious by improving the D-Line.
26 - GB: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
The RB class has been extremely weak these past few years and it doesn't look like it's improving much next year either. GB desperately needs RB and Lacy is looking like the only guy that can solve any problems.
27 - HOU: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
Do we go for need or talent? Minter fills the need but Austin has the stuff that could relieve some pressure from Johnson.
28 - DEN: Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
Need interior help on the line and in linebacking core. Williams is a great start to eat up some space.
29 - NE: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
CB or WR ... the elites are gone for both but I think Austin will be a nice toy for Brady if they lose Welker.
30 - ATL: Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
Need more depth at DE and RB and with the only true first round RB gone they should go with Okafor.
31 - SF: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Their secondary is just about the only weakness on this team.
32 - BAL: Eric Reid, FS, LSU
This pick screams for an ILB but the top two are already gone while a talented safety can be taken here to help replace Reed.

Below Average -- Anything is possible, but you don't pass on an LT compared to Joe Thomas for a G. I'd be shocked if they didn't take Joeckel. There are a lot of reasons to not take a G #1 overall, but not enough space here to explain. I'm with you on the Jet's pick!
