James Starks' loss is Quinn Porter's gain. Starks, a sixth round draft pick out of Buffalo, would almost certainly be the third running back on Green Bay if he could stay healthy. Starks missed his final collegiate season after having shoulder surgery. Prior to that he had a superb collegiate career, but he has not played in quite some time and now he is sitting on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. If he cannot physically perform soon, he will not make the roster. In the meantime Porter, an undrafted rookie out of Stillman College, is getting plenty of carries in the preseason. Porter has not had any outstanding performances, but is doing a solid job. If Starks is out of the picture, Porter could be third on the depth chart if he can hold off Kregg Lumpkin.
