2012 Outlook: Bye Week Fill-in

Last updated on Aug-13-2012 by Vin Sadicario

Mark Ingram will be in the mix for carries out of the Saints backfield this season. Coming off an injury plagued rookie season, Ingram had another knee surgery this off-season, and needs to be able to stay healthy before he can be a reliable fantasy starter. Another thing working against Ingram is the presence of Darren Sproles. Sproles is the Saints' big play running back. He will touch the ball anywhere between 10-15 times per game, thus further limiting Ingram's upside. Draft Ingram at your own risk this season.

8.08 DraftCalc.com - Ingram is no lock to produce in 2012, and he may not even get starter carries right away... but we like this kid and talent should shine through! By mid-season, Ingram could be a very decent fantasy RB2, or at least a great flex option.

7.12 FantasySharks.com - I need RBs after the Brady/Gronk open. It really puts you behind the 8-ball at RB or WR when you open QB/TE. It was an experiment, we'll see how it shakes out. I feel with only Steven Jackson on my roster at RB I need to grab a couple more while there's something to choose from. I get hives thinking about Mendenhall of Vereen as my two choices in a couple of rounds. I'm not a big fan of Ingram but he should get chances in a prolific offense.
