2014 Outlook: Super Sleeper (high risk/potential)

Last updated on Jun-23-2014 by Rob Warner

The 2012 fourth-round pick out of Arkansas is worth watching this offseason as Vikings beat reporter Ben Goessling thinks he could see 40 to 50 catches in Norv Turner's offense as a deep threat. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder has recorded 48 catches for 744 yards with five touchdowns over his first two seasons (23 games). Wright is not "draftable." He'll likely be the fourth option behind Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson and Kyle Rudolph on a Minnesota offense ranked 20th in pass attempts last season. He does have some deep sleeper appeal as he could see an uptick in targets over the first month of the season depending on whether Jerome Simpson is suspended.

15.08 FFToolbox - Brian Murphy - More WR depth. Wright registered some decent stat lines after Percy Harvin's 2012 season ended in Week 9. He is a big-play threat, but also showed that he can be possession wideout at times, which is great for a PPR league. However, Jerome Simpson is still listed as the Vikings' second starting wideout, and first-round rookie Cordarrelle Patterson will probably start the year as the No. 3. Again, Wright probably needs an injury to befall someone in front of him on the depth chart to hold noticeable fantasy value.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #2
July 2nd 2013
19.12 KFFSC - Wright is an interesting player. He stepped up when Harvin was injured last season and fit into the offense nicely. The addition of Jennings and Patterson may see Wright's targets disappear, but Wright has shown what he can do. Defenses will focus on Peterson as always, and if Wright is on the field he should find himself frequently open. Another late pick with a ton of potential. They won't all work out but the core of this roster is strong, and the breakout of one of these sleepers can put this team over the top.

18.04 FFMagicMan - A roll-the-dice name that no one is paying much attention to. Patterson may be the sexy name, but go back and watch some of the Vikings' games down the stretch in 2012 - Wright is a shifty receiver with great hands. He very well may grab the #2 role behind Jennings and be a guy who pays huge dividends for owners.
