2013 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)

Giovani Bernard could make a fantasy impact as a rookie out of the Bengals backfield. Bernard was the 37th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, and will start the season as the backup to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Bernard will see the field on third downs, and to spell Green-Ellis throughout the game, in fact, we're hearing the carries may be split 50/50. I would not be surprised to see Bernard thrust into a more vital role as the season moves along, as he brings more explosiveness to the field than Green-Ellis. There's little doubt after seeing how elusive Bernard is on the field, he can be a solid RB1 in the league. We're projecting him to outproduce Green-Ellis in PPR formats this year and likely be a hot name for fantasy players come playoff time.

2013 Mock Draft Results

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2013 FFToolbox Staff Mock Draft #1
June 18th, 2013
8.03 FFToolbox - Scott Atkins - My announced 2013 Skyrocket RB. This is the running back whose fantasy value will skyrocket by the time September comes. Why? He's already announced as the 3rd down guy catching Dalton's dumpers. Throw in a few pre-season runs, and this kid is bringing twice the lightning that the Law Firm does. By week 8, he could be challenging for serious carries. I think he's just much more explosive than BJGE and the coaching staff will see it.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #2
July 2nd 2013
8.07 World Ranked Player #26 - Bernard is a rookie and wild card type player but thats the type of players I like to take a chance on. He has the talent all he needs now is an opportunity and he should get it.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #1
June 25th, 2013
7.07 BFDFantasy - Swinging for the fences! I love his playmaking ability compared to Law Firm who went just a few picks later. How could the coaches resist getting him in early and often?
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3
July 9th, 2013
5.05 TheHuddle - I am very high on Antonio Brown and toyed with taking him here and seeing if Bernard would fall to me in the 6th. But when it came down to it there was more depth available at WR so I opted for Gio instead. At worst his involvement in the pass game will make him a flex play. Upside is that he finishes as a low level RB2.
