2013 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)Last updated on Sep-07-2013 by Daniel Kalles
Update September 7 2013 - Dobson has been ruled out week 1 due to injury.
The Patriots drafted Dobson out of Marshall, because he was fast and big (something they have been missing since they traded Randy Moss -- by the way, also went to Marshall). The Patriots love going deep and looking for the big play. If Dobson can be anything like Moss in the first few seasons with New England, the Patriots' offense will be even more dangerous. Follow Dobson's progression through camp and see if he is able to take hold of the #2 spot on the depth chart that is right there waiting for him.
Last week, Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson was considering surgery to fix what ails his left foot.
We know what he has decided, and it is done. According to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe, Dobson had surgery Monday to repair the stress fracture in the foot. Howe wrote that the early estimated recovery timetable for Dobson is 2-3 months.
Playoffs included, Dobson missed five games last season due to foot problems and was pretty much dogged by foot pain for the entire season half of the year.
That timetable means Dobson's next formally organized football work likely will come in training camp. Dobson will miss OTAs, and those are valuable for a 22-year-old, high-ceiling wideout entering his second season. But I'm sure the absence will be just fine with the Pats as long as this operation solves Dobson's foot issue. With the state of the Patriots' receiving corps in flux -- see: Amendola, Danny; Edelman, Julian -- Dobson could take on a huge role in 2014. He has the physical tools to be a force at this level. You'll see him on a bunch of preseason sleeper lists if his foot heals properly.

|13.05||FFToolbox -Scott - With all the craziness going on in New England, Dobson couldn't have found a better opportunity. He has a real shot at being the #2 or 3 option depending on if Gronk is healthy. Even as Brady's 3rd option, crazy value in the 13th round.|

|12.04||World Ranked #20 - A bit of an unknown. Patriots took him over some bigger name WRs. His big frame and great hands make him an instant red zone threat. With Welker, Hernandez gone and Gronk a question mark Dobson may have some great opportunities..especially in the redzone.|
