Kenny Stills, WR, Saints

2014 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)Last updated on Jul-04-2014 by Kimra Schleicher
BREAKOUT CANDIDATE: Kenny Stills is an extremely efficient WR as he caught 32 passes on 46 targets and posted 641 yards and five touchdowns. His 20 yards per catch average ranked him No. 1 overall in the NFL among receivers. What is more interesting is that all five of his touchdowns were caught from 34 or more yards out and he only dropped one pass in that range. With the departure of Lance Moore and Marques Colston enduring a chronic foot injury, expect to see a considerable increase in targets for Stills. The Saints plan to use Stills as a deep threat on the outside. All of the key elements are in place for a breakout season. He is playing with a future Hall of Famer QB in Drew Brees and he has Jimmy Graham distracting defenses up the middle of the field. I expect Stills to have a breakout season. High upside.
Editor's note: In FFWC Drafts so far, players are drafting the rookie (Brandin Cooks WR38) before second-year player (Kenny Stills WR46).
Cooks and Toon "have looked terrific throughout camp," according to ESPN's Mike Triplett. With Saints WR Kenny Stills missing time with a quad injury, Cooks and Toon have impressed coaches with the extra reps they're seeing. Saints head coach Sean Payton identified Toon in particular as a player having a "fantastic camp." Rookie Stills and third-year man Toon are vying for playing time in a Saints passing attack that has produced 5,000 yards for three straight seasons.Fantasy Analysis:
Cooks was the Saints first-round pick in the 2014 draft, and has been talked up quite a bit as a player who could have a fantasy impact in his rookie year. The former former Oregon State WR turned heads with a lightning-fast 4.33 40-yard dash at the draft combine. Toon, on the other hand, is a relative sleeper in fantasy. The Saints 6-foot-4 fourth-rounder from 2012 was placed on injured reserve his first season, then caught just four balls in eight games his second year. But with WR Lance Moore and prolific pass-catching RB Darren Sproles joining other teams this year, Saints QB Drew Brees will be eager to develop new threats to complement veteran WR Marques Colston and stud TE Jimmy Graham in his high-flying passing attack. Don't be surprised to see either or both of Cooks and Toon develop into valuable fantasy commodities this season.
