2013 Outlook: Over the Hill (decreased production)

I guess the Jets were trying to save a little money or possibly they just didn't want to deal with Braylon Edwards' off the field issues but I would have thought Edwards to be a better option than Mason. Then again maybe Edwards didn't want to go from being the number one to number three receiver because that is what the Jets needed and it looks like the Jets will have decided to fill this role with Derrick Mason. In his prime Mason was one of the league's more consistent receivers. For a stretch he finished 8 of 9 season with more than 1,000 yards. Those days have surpassed the 37 year old Mason and from a fantasy perspective you should pass on Derrick. He will be a possession receiver this season which means 40-50 receptions for 600-700 yards with a touchdown or two. With numbers like these Mason won't be worth much in most fantasy leagues.
