2011 Outlook: Quality Backup

Talk about consistency; in eight of his last nine seasons, Mason has generated at least 73 receptions and over 1,000 receiving yards. In his five years with the Ravens, Mason's production has come without anything resembling a scary receiver on the other side or a viable veteran passer throwing the ball. Mason has shown a good rapport with Joe Flacco, who is likely to take it up another level or two in his third season, and now the 14-year vet gets receiver help in the form of Anquan Boldin. While the former Cardinals star will be drafted first, do not be surprised if Mason leads the Ravens in receptions for the fourth straight year. In fact, while he may struggle to reach those previously mentioned levels now that there is another big-time receiver to feed, Mason should have plenty of scoring opportunities (he averaged 5.4 TDs over the last three seasons) now that he will face the opposition's top corner each week. Always a better play in PPR leagues, Mason will be a WR3 in most formats (and a consistent one at that).
