RB Thomas Jones, NYJ
<< Back to Profiles List
Right now the Jets have two rather disgruntled running backs on their roster. The first of which is Thomas Jones. He is unhappy with the announcement that the Jets will be running the ball a lot this season and that he will only be paid $900,000 this year. Jones feels he has proven himself and the Jets should renegotiate his contract. From the Jets perspective they feel the $13 million Thomas was paid the first two years of his front loaded contract is enough. It doesn't appear the Jets are going to give Jones a new contract, so if this lingers on into the season Jones could sit out a few games. Keep an eye on this situation as we get closer to the start of the season.

SportsGrumblings.com - I know several other outlets are downgrading Jones, but I still like him as an RB2 because: (a) contrary to popular belief, the RB "wall" is at 32, not 30 - and Jones will be 31; (b) The Jets figure to be a running team this season (c) how can you sit a 1,300 yard rusher the following season? |

ThunderingBlurb.com - I thought about going WR here but as we only start 2 I felt a third Rb was better value here, if just to back up Moreno's production. Jones should have another very good season, this time in Ryan's run heavy offense. The 4 game suspension of Pace for PEDs and Gholston's cont'd suckitude worry me a little that the Jets might struggle to keep it close, but I think Ryan & co will pull it off. |

FantasySharks.com - He will get the ball a lot and has a good O-Line to run behind. There's risk as he's not the springiest chicken out there but RB is important with these starting lineup requirements. |

KFFL.com - I'm not a fan either, but if he gets halfway to last year's TD total, that's a larceny. |
