2009 Outlook: Deep-league Only

After wasting time in Oakland for the last seven seasons, Ronald Curry has made the move to another program known most recently for its blunders. During the 2006 and 2007 campaigns, Curry had his best two seasons and caught 117 passes for 1,444 yards and five touchdowns. He may not put up numbers like that while he is in Detroit, but Curry could emerge as Detroit's second leading receiver behind Calvin Johnson. That should be good for at least 450 yards and a few touchdowns. In most fantasy leagues that would leave Curry undrafted, but he is an intriguing prospect who could develop into a decent target for quarterback Matthew Stafford. It is certainly worth keeping an eye on Curry during the preseason to see if he can unseat Bryant Johnson as the team's secondary target.

8/8 Update: Well, Curry will not unseat Bryant Johnson as the Lions' second receiver since the team opted to trade him to St. Louis just months after acquiring him. That is good news for Bryant Johnson and Dennis Northcutt, and also for Curry who could play a bigger role on the Rams than he would have in Detroit.
