2009 Outlook: Stud (low risk)

Dallas Clark is coming off an excellent season in which he caught 77 passes for 848 yards and six touchdowns. Clark should have an equally as good (if not better) season in 2009 as he will be targeted more often following Marvin Harrison's release. Clark set his career highs in receptions and yards in 2008, while his touchdowns fell from eleven in 2007 to six in 2008. Fantasy owners should not worry about his touchdown drop off, as he should be closer to eleven than six in 2009. As long as he can stay healthy, Clark is a safe bet to have another excellent season in 2009. Clark should be one of the first five tight ends off the board in fantasy drafts.

Month Position Franchise/Comments
May 6.02 FFToolbox.com - With an unproven rookie currently occupying my RB2 slot, it is very tempting to grab one of the remaining upside picks (Stewart in particular). However...I suspect we are on the verge of a TE run and the top 8-10 overall could be gone by the time I pick next. There is good position depth, but Clark is the best option remaining and if he can stay healthy, he should be looking at numbers in the 80-900-8 range.
June 6.02 RapidDraft.com - There's a big drop from here to the rest of the tight ends, as far as I'm concerned. Others who could join the top group come with significant questions. Clark could wind up the Colts' second-leading receiver this year. At the least, he should be a top four TE if he stays healthy.
July 5.03 eCouchCoach.com - I am not a fan of having both manning and clark on my team together, because a bad game for the colts is a bad game for me. However, I can't pass a TE that gets as many looks as clark does...
Aug. 6.08 RapidDraft.com - I think there's significantly more separation between Clark and the remaining tight ends than there is at WR or RB. I like his chances to be a top three tight end. The average of his past two seasons would give him about 68 catches, 730 yards and eight or nine scores and would make me quite happy.
