2011 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)

Everyone knew the Redskins would add a running back or two this offseason to either compliment, compete with or replace the aging Clinton Portis. However, few (if any) saw this old war horse of a back being that guy. Johnson famously racked up over 750 carries during the 2005-06 seasons and that workload severely limited his future workload as he has less than 200 carries in each of the following three seasons. Yet he actually might have more tread on his tires than Portis, and LJ certainly has much to prove after getting chased out of Kansas City midway through last season after a series of on and off the field issues. There were actually some signs of life in those legs last season after Johnson was signed by the Bengals, as he averaged 4.4 yards on 46 carries and went for 107 yards and two scores against the Browns in Week 12. How the Redskins choose to dole out the touches remains to be seen and for now this is a backfield to avoid. Still, Mike Shanahan has seen plenty of LJ over the years and it will not be surprising if he makes this a true split backfield -- and maybe more -- with a solid camp.
