2009 Outlook: Deep-league Only

Curtis' season took a hit before it got started when he underwent sports hernia surgery during preseason and he really never recovered, falling far short of his impressive '08 numbers. With DeSean Jackson stepping up as the Eagles' top receiver and rookie Jeremy Maclin being added to the mix, Curtis will see his role as deep threat cut even further. Ultimately Curtis, who had 33 grabs for 390 yards and two touchdowns last season, is best suited as that one-dimensional type receiver instead of a full-time option, but the Eagles' top-heavy investments the past two drafts seem to be precluding him from participating much even in that capacity. Assuming he comes out of training camp as a starter -- and barring injury he will -- Curtis could have some immediate value as a bait and switch type trade option, but his long-term outlook is that of deep league fodder.
