WR Lee Evans, BUF
<< Back to Profiles List
Lee Evans has had some big years in Buffalo, but the Bills have lacked a secondary receiver until now. His touchdown receptions have been suffering as of late, catching only five in 2007 and three in 2008, but Evans is a quality receiver. The big question is how will the addition of Terrell Owens effect Evans' numbers? Unless the Bills start throwing all over the place (which probably will not happen as long as they have Marshawn Lynch in the backfield), Evans' numbers simply have to be less impressive than they have been in the past. The opposition will certainly key in on Owens and that will put Evans in single coverage much more often than he has been in the past. That could lead to more touchdowns, but Owens will get his fair share too.
8/16 Update: It is difficult to gauge exactly how the addition of Owens will effect Evans' numbers. The two have hardly been on the field together during the Bills' two preseason games to date. Evans caught three passes for 54 yards (leading all wide receivers) in the team's second preseason game, but that was when Owens was out with a sprained toe.

ThunderingBlurb.com - TO arriving in Buff is a good news/bad news situation. But the good outweighs the bad for sure. Yes, TO will demand the ball more and get it, but how long has Evans awaited a player opposite from him who can draw coverage. Owens has lost a step but on a 1 year contract, he will play very hard and that will translate to more open space for Evans to work with. In man coverage, Evans will tear up CBs - I expect solid #2 WR numbers and I think he's a good value here in the 6th. |

Rotoworld.com - Evans is not typically an ideal PPR target, but the new up-tempo Buffalo offense will lead to more pass attempts and therefore more receptions for the former Wisconsin Badger. And it doesn't hurt that T.O. will command the double teams. |
