2009 Outlook: Bye Week Fill-in
Crayton opened last season as the Cowboys number two receiver, had three games of over 80+ yards with two touchdowns through Week 6...and then bottom fell out. Roy Williams entered the mix, Tony Romo went down with an injury and ultimately Crayton never really showed the consistent ability/production that folks look from their starters. All those factors led to the now 30-year old topping 50 yards only once the rest of the way, scoring only two more times over the final 10 games and frustrating the faithful with his inopportune miscues. Now, he is a in a "competition" with the physically gifted Miles Austin, but the vibe is the Cowboys want the younger wide out to win the job and move Crayton to the slot. Watch how this battle plays out in training camp as the winner is an intriguing sleeper pick, but if Crayton moves inside, his fantasy value takes a hit down to the deep reserve level.
8/21: The battle in Cowboys camp is between Austin and Sam Hurd for the 3rd receiver slot, meaning Crayton for now remains in the starting lineup. His targets should rise since Tony Romo know longer needs to feed the beast known as Terrell Owens, but Crayton remains a limited fantasy option and could eventually move inside if the Cowboys feel compelled to get a big play target opposite Roy Williams.
