2013 Outlook: Stud (low risk)Last updated on Aug-23-2013 by Jeb Gorham
Wes Welker is a fantasy stud and this will continue in Denver. His addition to the team will allow Manning additional passing options, especially in the slot and on cross routes. I think this new relationship will be reminiscent of the Manning-Stokley early days. Welker's position should allow him to put up solid fantasy stats and you should grab him when you can in your draft.
Update 8/23/13 - Welker suffered an ankle injury, but should be back in action for Week 1.
A small signing to report before we see some of the bigger ones become official very soon.
The Broncos have re-signed wide receiver Andre Caldwell to a two-year contract worth a maximum value of $3.45 million, according to Pro Football Talk. Caldwell registered 16 catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns last season. Caldwell saw more playing time while Wes Welker was absent due to a concussion, and a good chunk of his production came during a two-touchdown performance against the Chargers in Week 15.
Caldwell, who will turn 29 in April, has never gained more than 432 receiving yards in any of his six seasons.
Caldwell represents nice insurance for the Broncos as Eric Decker appears all but gone. But Caldwell won't come close to putting up Decker-type numbers; he is a very mediocre NFL wide receiver with a very small amount of fantasy value, barring injuries to Denver's receiving corps.
