2013 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Last updated on Jul-15-2013 by Matt De Lima

Free agent wide receivers don't typically make a big splash in the way Vincent Jackson did in 2012. The big-play receiver that he is, the Bucs did a fantastic job playing to his strengths. Josh Freeman put it up only where his 6'5", 230-pound receiver could get it. It'll really surprise me, in the same way he did a year ago, to see Jackson equal his numbers. VJax enjoyed career highs in receptions, targets, receiving yards, yards per reception and came close in touchdowns. That's really hard to do considering it was his eighth season in the league. Jackson's numbers shouldn't fall off a cliff or anything, but don't expect him to overachieve yet again.

2013 Mock Draft Results

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2013 FFToolbox Staff Mock Draft #1
June 18th, 2013
3.11 FFToolbox - Rob Warner - The 30 year old enjoyed a career year during his first season in Tampa posting a career-best 72 catches for 1,384 yards and 8 TDs - finished as a top-10 fantasy receiver for the 3rd time in his career.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #2
July 2nd 2013
3.11 BFD Fantasy - This is the price you pay for two RBs to start a draft in 2013. V-Jax is hardly an ideal #1 FF WR, he's not bad. Just not a model of consistency catching the ball or scoring TDs.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #1
June 25th, 2013
4.02 World Fantasy Rankings #4 - I was trying to decide between Vjax and McFadden but Bruno Boys made my decision an easy one by taking the RB off the board. I was leaning WR anyway because I already have two workhorse RB's and Vincent Jackson is a true #1 WR. This pick increases my teams explosive upside and locks in a consistent performer in a spot that you can't afford to make a mistake in the draft.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3
July 9th, 2013
3.12 KFFL - Tim - V-Jax isn't very PPRey, but he's a consistent big-play threat that counts for plenty in best-ball formats like this one.
