2013 Outlook: Quality Backup

Last updated on Jul-01-2013 by Vin Sadicario

Lance Moore will enter the 2013 season as the Saints' number two wide receiver. Moore is coming off the best season of his career, topping 1000 yards for the first time. Moore can be expected to put up similar numbers this season, as even with Sean Payton's decree that the running game will increase, the passing game will still be the best option to move the chains for the Saints. Fantasy owners should view Moore as a quality backup this season. To read more on Lance Moore, check out this article by Matt De Lima,

8.10 Gridiron Experts - Moore had a career year last season, so he's probably due for a bit of a drop off. Still, I couldn't take DeSean Jackson here, with Maclin already starting for my squad. I like Moore consistency and my quarterback, Drew Brees, seems to trust him on the real field. That makes Moore a decent bet on the fake field as well. Considering how long I waited to address my receiving corps, I'm not unhappy with how my starting lineup unfolded. It's also worth mentioning that I've done dozens and dozens of mock so far and this is the first one that played out like this. I chalk it up to drafting with all these genius fantasy experts.

8.09 FFToday - There's no harm in having receivers from high-powered passing offenses on your fantasy team.

8.03 FootballDiehards - Only WR Marques Colston (58) has caught more of Drew Brees' scoring passes than Moore (36). Moore set a career high for receiving yards in 2012. He also finished ranked first on the Saints in yards per catch with a 16.0 average. With Devery Henderson no longer in the mix, Moore should play an even more prominent role (in an offense that has ranked in the top five in the league each of the past five years).
