QB Jay Cutler, CHI
<< Back to Profiles List
Jay Cutler had a very solid season last year despite Denver's playoff troubles once again. With over 4,500 yards through the air, 25 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns, Cutler was productive with the likes of Marshall, Stokley and Royal at his disposal. The one thing Cutler must work on is his touchdown to interception percentage. He threw 18 interceptions last season, nearly one per game. In Chicago, Cutler must learn Lovie Smith's offense and take on the challenge of leading a group of wide-outs who have potential, but have not been proven. Cutler does have Forte to break down opposing defenses and open passing lanes as well as catch the ball, so there could be some interesting scenarios that play out in the passing game. I expect Cutler to utilize his big tight end Olsen often as well. I imagine Cutler will break in his new offense fairly quickly, toss for just under 4,000 yards and be a top 10 QB.

FantasySharks.com - This is a strange pick I know. Backing up my QB (Romo) with Cutler seems a little odd but after staring at the board I feel I can still get good value at other positions and QB will fall off the map fairly soon. There will be some teams left struggling at QB so with Cutler being the best value on the board (IMHO) I'll take him with the intent in a "real" league on trading him or Romo to upgrade me somewhere else, either in this draft, or in season. It's how I'd play it so let's mock it that way! |
