2011 Outlook: Bye Week Fill-in
Since rushing for 745 and 6 TDs in 14 games during his rookie season, fans have been expecting him to take the next step. He has yet to stay healthy, never playing a full season (nor has he played consistently enough to be handed the # 1 job). The Patriots prefer to go with a running back committee. After only playing 3 games in 2008 due to injury, Maroney had a bit of a resurgence in 2009 setting career highs in games (15), carries (194) and rushing TDs (9) while posting the 2nd highest rushing yards in his short career with 757. That was until Belichick got tired of Maroney's fumbles and deactivated him in the regular season finale. Maroney is still the most talented running back on the roster and is healthy and going into a contract year, making him an intriguing pick. However, until he proves he can play consistently, he shouldn't be drafted as anything more than a #4RB or bye week fill in.
