TE Marcedes Lewis, JAX<< Back to Profiles List
2009 Outlook: Quality BackupLewis set career highs in receptions (41) and yards (489) and tied a career high with 2 touchdowns. It has been a slow progression but after 3 seasons it looks like Lewis is finally figuring things out, and has become a favorite target of David Garrard. The fact that the Jags don't have many options in the passing game means that Lewis will get his fair share of looks, especially in the red zone where he can use his 6-6 frame to help him get good position. Look for Lewis to take another step forward this year and improve on last season's numbers -- making him a high end tier 2 tight end.
August 5, 2009 While Lewis set career highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns, he also led all tight ends in dropped passes with 11. With a lack of depth at the wide receiver position, look for Garrard to go to Lewis as much as possible and use him to help open up the passing game. Lewis should improve on last year's numbers and might even become worthy of being a starting fantasy TE.
