Joseph Addai should enter the 2009 season as the Colts' starting running back; however, his value took a major hit when the Colts used a first round pick on running back Donald Brown. Addai struggled with injuries last season and the addition of Brown will mean a significant decrease in touches for Addai this season. The Colts will want to keep Addai fresh and healthy for the entire season and will not be overworking him during the season. Just how many carries Brown will take from Addai should be determined during training camp and the preseason. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation and be prepared for a 60-40 split in favor of Addai. Joseph Addai should be treated as a low end RB 2 entering the 2009 season.

He proved in 2006 and 2007 that he can be a fantasy force in this offense (2,842 total yards, 23 total touchdowns). Donald Brown likely will eat into his touches, but I don't think Addai is done yet. He's still only 26. |
