RB Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX
<< Back to Profiles List
With Fred Taylor gone, MJD will finally get a chance to carry the load and there is no reason to believe he won't be able to handle it. Over his first 3 years in the NFL, MJD has averaged 844 yards and 11.3 touchdowns rushing, all the while splitting carries with Taylor. Just imagine what he will do without having to share the ball? What makes MJD even more valuable is that he is a great receiver as well, catching 148 passes for a total of 1408 yards and 4 touchdowns. With all the numbers MJD puts up, he should be a top 12 pick in all formats, and maybe even a top 5 pick in point per reception leagues.

MJD has put on some extra weight this off season to help him handle being an every down back. With all the extra carries he will get, MJD should be a top 5 fantasy runner; in point per reception leagues (ppr) he could go as high as 1 or 2.

FantasySharks.com - In a PPR league I like MJD over Adrian Peterson. It may sound a little curious to some but MJD was a top 3 RB in this format last year where Adrian Peterson was 9th best due to his lack of receiving. The Jaguars plan on using MJD every which way they possibly can and that's a good thing for me. |

FFToday.com - Pocket Hercules, come on down to kick off this mock draft for Team FF Today. I'm more than happy with either the #1 or #2 spot this year, as we see a drop-off after MJD and AP as the top tier RB this season. MJD is actually projected #1 for us in this scoring system thanks mainly to a projected 54 receptions versus only 19 for AP. The 54 may be slightly conservative, considering he earned 36 in just the final 8 games of 2008 and David Garrard lost every WR he had any rapport with. |

FantasySharks.com - For my tastes, MJD is the #1 pick in a PPR draft like this one. He will be the every down back, active at the goal line and in the receiving game, and the addition of Torry Holt will open up the passing game for MJD even more. |
