RB Adrian Peterson, MIN
<< Back to Profiles List
Our consensus #1 player enters his third season and we aren't sure what he can do for an encore. In 2008, AP rushed an incredible 363 times for a league-best 1,760 yards (4.8 avg.) with 10 touchdowns. If there's a knock on him its his limited use in the passing game (21 catches for 125 yards) and mild durability issues (missed 2 games in 2007). AP topped the century mark 10 times in 2008 and should continue to overpower and blow past defenders for the foreseeable future. Nicknamed "The Cashier" by ESPN's Merril Hoge because of how he charges opponents, Peterson planned to add 7-12 pounds to his 6'1/218-pound frame this off-season. The extra weight could help Peterson in pass protections and keep him on the field more in 2009. He runs behind one of the best O-line's in the league (must replace Center Matt Birk) and if the Vikings can gain some stability at the QB position with Brett Favre, he could actually improve on his 2008 numbers (which is downright scary). He should be the No. 1 overall pick in all standard 2009 drafts and a top-3 pick in PPR formats.

KFFL.com - While Maurice Jones-Drew and Matt Forte were tempting with the top selection, Peterson catches just enough passes to build on his already beefy ground game. There were too many question marks with my other two choices to let the NFL's best back slip, even in a PPR setup. Even if Brett Favre comes to Minny, he'll be second fiddle to "AD." |

eCouchCoach.com - Well, you can't pass up AP as a #3 pick. Even though he won't have 60 receptions this year, I still expect him to to have at least 15-20 and think he will make up for the rest in rush yardage. I would expect to see him have 1500+ yards rushing this season, and with the QB situation in MIN still up in the air, he may surprise some people in the receptions category... |

FansFantasyFootball.com - OK...so the dreaded 1st overall pick in the draft...its a ppr league and I realize AP is not the best pass grabber...but AP says 2000 yards and 20 TD's...so I can't pass him up. MJD has never been "the guy" and Forte is still only in his second year...give me the freak! |
