Anthony Gonzalez showed improvement in his second NFL season and could be ready for a breakout season in 2009. Gonzalez should benefit from the loss of Marvin Harrison, and could quickly become an every week starter in fantasy leagues. He caught 57 passes for 664 yards and four touchdowns last season, but should improve those numbers this season. Peyton Manning is comfortable with Gonzalez, and he should be able to crack the top 25 fantasy wide receivers in 2009. Gonzalez was a breakout candidate in 2008, but only improved slightly on his numbers from 2007. His somewhat disappointing 2008 season could lead to Gonzalez being undervalued entering the 2009 season. Fantasy owners should target Gonzalez as a top flight WR 3 or decent WR 2 who could breakout this season.
