Drew Stanton, QB, Cardinals
2013 Outlook:Last updated on Jul-12-2013 by Matt De Lima
Drew Stanton was with the Colts back in 2011 and has limited experience with Bruce Arians' offensive scheme. Before that, Stanton played sparringly with the Detroit Lions from 2008 to 2010. The seven-year vet has no fantasy value.
Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has admitted that the pain in his right (throwing) elbow affected him during last week's loss to the Eagles, and that pain kept him from doing much throughout practice this week. He was limited to throwing only soft tosses on Thursday. However, head coach Bruce Arians expressed confidence Friday when asked if Palmer would play against the Rams, and Palmer handled all of the first-team snaps in Saturday's walk-through. He is officially listed as questionable but is expected to start.Fantasy Analysis:
Palmer suffered the injury to his elbow in Week 13 when he was stripped of the ball right as he was about to fire off a pass. The Rams' pass defense is OK, but with Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd playing so well, with this game at home, and with Palmer riding a streak of five straight games with multiple touchdowns, he is a low-end QB1 this week. If Palmer suffers a setback, Drew Stanton will replace him under center. But let's not worry about that possibility right now.
