2013 Outlook: Deep-league Only

Breaston is a free agent this offseason so it is pure speculation at this point to assume that he will be back as the Cardinals' number two wide receiver lining up opposite of Pro-Bowler Larry Fitzgerald. Breaston was expected to take a huge leap forward last season after the departure of Anquan Boldin, but instead, Breaston was limited by a knee injury and finished the year with only 47 receptions for 718 yards and one touchdown.

Should Breaston resign with Arizona, he will likely be the Cardinals' number two wide receiver, but his fantasy value depends on who is throwing him the football. Breaston put up outstanding numbers as the number three wide receiver in the Cardinals' offense with Kurt Warner under center. Last season, he struggled to produce consistently with the carousel of mediocre quarterbacks Arizona used. Breaston is worth a late round pick in all fantasy leagues, but he is merely a deep league option until the Cardinals address their quarterback situation.

I have to be honest with you, I'm not a Steve Breaston fan. Last year he was the number two receiver for Arizona and he had 47 receptions for 718 yards with a touchdown. I'll admit the Cardinals quarterback situation left much to be desired, but I don't believe that was the only problem. Maybe a change in scenery will change my perspective. However, until I see some consistent play from Breaston, I believe he is nothing more than a waiver wire pick or bye week filler.
