TE Kevin Boss, NYG

2009 Outlook: Bye Week Fill-in
Boss was a 5th round pick in 2007 and played mostly at the end of that season when Jeremy Shockey was injured. Then when Shockey was traded before the 2008 season, Boss took over as the #1 tight end in New York. In his first full season as the starting TE, Boss caught 33 passes for 384 and led the Giants with 6 touchdown receptions. His production improved over the 2nd half of the season when he caught 23 passes for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns over the his final 8 games of the season. With no Plax, Boss takes over as Manning's big end zone target (he is 6"6). Boss should improve again this season; while he probably won't be a top 12 TE, there is no reason to believe he can't be a good bye week fill-in (if not better).

Boss is the starting TE in New York but doesn't see enough action to be a starting fantasy TE. Since the Giants don't have much experience at the receiver position, Manning might go to Boss some this season (especially in the red zone); regardless, until Boss shows he can put up better numbers, he is nothing more than a bye week fill in at best.

FantasySharks.com - I like Boss as a sleeper backup TE this year. He came on strong at the end of the year for the Giants and Manning has to throw the ball to someone. |
