RB Ryan Grant, GB
<< Back to Profiles List
While quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the talented group of receivers get most of the attention, running back Ryan Grant put together a solid season in 2008. The Packers will look to pass first, but that does open up lanes for Grant. After nearly hitting the 1,000 yard mark his first year in the league in 2007, Grant carried the ball 312 times for 1,203 yards during the 2008 campaign. His 3.9 yards per carry average was nothing special and he only reached the end zone a total of five times, but when Green Bay wants to hit the ground, Grant will be the guy. With an experienced offensive line and a pass attack that should be among the best in the nation, Grant will certainly get some decent rushes…just maybe not quite as many as his fantasy owners would like. He should not be a starter in most fantasy leagues, but he is a safe secondary option.
8/2 Update: Grant's 2008 campaign was admittedly disappointing. He was hoping to be able to keep up his impressive numbers from late in the 2007 season, but failed to do so. A lingering injury was part of the problem and that is no longer an issue. Like everybody always says, the Packers would like to run the ball more this year, so Grant should get quite a few carries.

FantasySharks.com - Ryan Grant could surprise now that he is in camp and training with the team vs. the hold out he staged last season that hurt him on the field. Expect a solid year our of Ryan Grant. |

FFLibrarian.com - Grant finished 2008 with just over 1200 yards (9th most), has remained healthy over the offseason, and has the luxury of facing Detroit twice a year. I'll take that. |

FFToolbox.com - Not an ideal PPR pick, but I like Grant better overall then the other backs on the board. Even though his '08 season wasn't as productive as his initial breakout campaign, Grant plays in a dynamic offense that has a chance to be even better this season. |
