I took a lot of flack from readers of last year's Oakland Raiders Outlook column when I labeled McFadden a Bust. "Don't be so quick to buy into the hype of his being the next LaDanian Tomlinson or Adrian Peterson," I rightfully said. But I also talked about McFadden's vast long-term potential and hinted that it might just be a matter of time before he establishes himself. This acclaimed college "game-breaker" only had one run of over 20 yards last year and that's the first thing that needs to change. With a year of experience under his belt and being more accustomed now to the pace of the NFL, McFadden should start making some big plays. He'll need to more than double the 500 yards rushing he put up in his rookie campaign in order to justify his lofty fantasy rank. Keep a close eye on the preseason battle to see how hard he pushes Justin Fargas for the starting job. Like JaMarcus Russell, McFadden is a work in progress who just needs to show he's willing to take the next step.
