2012 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick
Last updated on Jul-15-2012 by Matt De LimaBrandon Pettigrew's continued improvement shouldn't come as a surprise. Many identified him as a sleeper last season and were rewarded for their foresight. The question entering his fourth season is whether or not he still has any more room to grow? The problem is that Pettigrew runs only short to medium routes. His longest catch was only 27 yards and he only had seven receptions longer than 20 yards -- only 19th among tight ends. Pettigrew projects to be a reliable TE1 (especially in PPR leagues), but he simply lacks that big-play potential of a Rob Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham.

2012 Experts Mock Draft (June) June 6, 2012 - June 25, 2012 |
8.07 | FantasySharks.com - Pettigrew was a favorite target of Matt Staffords in 2011, setting career and franchise records at the position. I believe you can wait on TE this year and still get a serviceable choice later but once in a while a guy like Pettigrew floats up. If there were anything that I wanted as a must have player available here, I would go in that direction secure in the knowledge that I will still have choices at TE but in this case, the bone is picked clean for now at RB and WR so Pettigrew it is. |

2012 Experts Mock Draft (July) July 16 - 27 |
9.09 | TheHuddle.com - Would have toyed with DHB here and a TE next round, but I have no issue "settling" for a talented TE who could very well be the No. 2 receiver on his pass-happy team. |

2012 Experts Mock Draft (August) Aug 14 - 24 |
8.12 | TheHuddle.com - Pettigrew is the guy I hope to grab right around this portion of the draft if I miss out on the elite four TEs. More upside than what's left at his position. |
