2013 Outlook: Quality Backup

Last updated on May-28-2013 by Matt De Lima

Expectations were high for Brandon Pettigrew in 2012 and he will need to rebound from a mediocre season to become a fantasy starter again. He has 100-plus targets in each of the last three seasons. Hauling in only 59 of 100 targets last year has to be improved upon first and foremost. It isn't as though Pettigrew is stretching the field vertically, as most of his routes are short and intermediate. If he couldn't get the job done last year with Detroit's receiving corps decimated, it is unlikely he suddenly becomes an elite playmaker.

10.01 FFToolbox - Ian Ritchie
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #2

10.07 World Ranked Player #26 - For waiting on TE I was please to grab Pettigrew in a pass happy offense.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #1
June 25th, 2013
10.02 World Fantasy Rankings #4 - If he could only stop dropping the football! I like the upside of Brandon Pettigrew from the 10th round and I believe he will be Matthew Stafford's second option. I see him catching between 70-80 passes this year even with Burleson coming back and Broyles coming back from injury. All he has to do is HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL!
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3
July 9th, 2013
11.08 DraftSharks - I don't love Pettigrew, but he catches a lot of passes for a team that forgot you're allowed to hand it off. I picked him here simply because of the 2 flex spots.
