2012 Outlook:

Last updated on Jul-10-2012 by Shawn Larabee

After a strong 2010 (that included back-to-back century mark games midseason), Goodson only saw the field once last year and battled hamstring injuries. He'll need to stay healthy, overcome a fumbling problem and separate himself from Taiwan Jones before he'll have any fantasy relevance. His size and pedigree play in his favor.

Latest Update

May-17-13 Jets RB Mike Goodson arrested for marijuana, weapons possession

Jets running back Mike Goodson was taken into custody early Friday morning, charged with drug and weapons possession, according to News 12 New Jersey. Goodson, who turns 26 next week, and a companion were "found intoxicated" by New Jersey state police in an SUV stopped along a highway in Denville. USA Today's Mike Garafolo later reported Goodson has been charged with marijuana possession, possession of drug, paraphernalia, handgun possession, loaded gun and possession of hollow-point bullets.

Fantasy Analysis:

Yikes. The Jets chaotic offseason just took another unwanted turn, though at least this time we're not talking about a quarterback. Added this offseason after stints with the Raiders and Panthers, Goodson figured to be the backup or alternate option behind newly acquired Chris Ivory, but now all that should be on his mind is avoiding jail time. No matter what transpires in the courts, an NFL suspension of some length seems probable. Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight are also in the Jets backup RB mix.

14.10 CBSSports.com - I think I've seen Darren McFadden get hurt once or twice so getting his backup is never a back idea. Only thing that could impact Goodson would be a Cedric Benson signing. Goodson won't be on the level of Michael Bush, but he could play well if given a chance. He's worth the risk here.

17.12 FantasySharks.com - A backup to McFadden seems like a good option. Knowing early on that I'd be scraping the RB barrel late, I'd be looking for some goal line plungers and Goodson has that plus a little more potential given the fragility of McFadden.

19.02 FFToolbox.com (Ben) - In a regular league I'd go with Bernard Pierce as a Ray Rice handcuff. In this format, I'll instead shoot for the moon with someone else's backup. In this case, the guy behind the often injured DMac.
