2013 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Jahvid Best was the Lions' top rusher during his rookie campaign, but he only garnered 555 yards on 171 carries. What made Best a quality running back was his ability to catch passes out of the backfield. Best ranked third on the Lions with 58 receptions and added 487 yards and two touchdowns. His six total touchdowns was not a bad showing for a rookie, but he needs to stay healthy. The unhealthiness of rookie Mikel Leshoure may add more strain on Best's workload. That is a bad thing for the Lions, but a good thing for fantasy owners of Best. Maurice Morris will again be the bruising back who takes away Best's touchdowns, but Leshoure would have had a probably had a better season. Number two on the depth chart behind Best is another quick, shifty back in Jerome Harrison. It will be interesting to see how the Lions use those two, but Best is clearly the number one back and without a clear big back at the number two spot due to Leshoure's injury, Best could have the ball in his hands a lot.
