2013 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Last updated on Oct-21-2013 by Rob Warner

UPDATE (10/21): Brown has 46 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns through the first six games. He was the top fantasy WR back in week three when Brown torched Chicago with nine catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns. He's averaging 91 yards receiving per game and has been a solid PPR option averaging eight catches per game as Big Ben's clear cut go to weapon in the passing game.

PROFILE: The stars are aligned for Brown to return to his impressive 2011 numbers (69 catches for 1,108 yards) with Mike Wallace now in Miami. Last season, Brown missed 3 games with a high-ankle sprain and finished with nearly as many catches (66) as he did the season before, but about 400 less yards (787). The 24 year old WR from Central Michigan has just 7 touchdowns over his first three seasons, but those numbers could climb as he's locked into WR1 status and Heath Miller (a red zone favorite) remains a question mark. He should produce borderline WR2 numbers and makes for a wise investment in rounds 6-7.

5.07 The Huddle - Jason Witten was all queued up here, only to see him go off the board four picks ahead of me. The backup plan was taking the last of the top-tier quarterbacks, but Peyton Manning was picked just before me. So Brown is a bit of a consolation prize, though in a three-WR league having three of the top 16 WRs takes away a bit of the sting.

5.09 FFMagicMan - Drafting Brown as my WR2 is like dancing with the girl with glasses and braces. She wasn't your first choice, but at least you're dancing. (And then, in the perfect world, you see her at the class reunion and find out she turned into a head-turning, drool-inducing hottie.) I hope Antonio finishes 2013 looking like a hottie.
2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3

6.03 FootballDiehards - Mike Wallace's free-agent defection to Miami leaves Brown as the de facto No. 1 receiver in Pittsburgh. Is he ready for that role? We'll see. I thought he regressed a bit last season. That said, I'm pretty comfortable with him as my WR3 -- one with the upside to produce at a higher level.
