Vikings QB Christian Ponder passes concussion tests, expected to play
All of you who bought in on Joe Webb
for week 17, here's some bad news for you: Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder
has passed his baseline tests, he practiced fully Wednesday and is now expected to start Sunday versus the Chicago Bears.
"I want to finish strong and have some momentum going into the offseason," Ponder said on Wednesday. "To finish with two wins going into the offseason, I don't think people realize how big of a springboard that is."
Fantasy Analysis:
This news doesn't mean a whole lot for fantasy owners since Percy Harvin and Toby Gerhart, the two most common Vikings on fantasy rosters at this point, should be able to produce with Webb or Ponder behind center. However, I do believe that starting Ponder over Webb lowers the team's overall scoring potential right now, meaning the Chicago defense is a better fantasy option this week if the rookie gets the call.
