Rams fire head coach Steve Spagnuolo; Jeff Fisher next?

The St. Louis Rams have cleared the way for Jeff Fisher to become their next head coach if he wants it. The team fired Steve Spanuolo on Monday, following a 2-14 season and a three-year tenure during which Spagnuolo lost 38 of 48 games. Also following him out the door is general manager Billy Devaney. The Rams have been rumored to desire a big-name replacement and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, via a league source, Fisher will interview for the position by the end of the week.

Fantasy Analysis:

Spagnuolo is a defensive coach and is expected by many to assume the defensive coordinator duties with the Philadelphia Eagles before long. The Rams' defense was obviously not good, getting routinely abused through the air and on the ground, but a huge rash of injuries really handcuffed that group. The offense was historically bad, and it remains to be seen whether OC Josh McDaniels will keep his gig. For right now, he still has a job. But that could change when the new head coach comes in.
