Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe gets franchise tag
It looks like one of the final franchise tags handed out to fantasy-relevent players went to Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe
. Much like everyone else except Drew Brees this franchise-tag season, Bowe got the non-exclusive tag, meaning he can still consider offers from other teams, but the asking price will be two first-round picks. If Bowe plays under the tag, he'll make around $9.4 million next season.
"Today was the league's deadline to designate a franchise player and we felt it was in the best interest of the Kansas City Chiefs to place the tag on Dwayne," Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said in a statement.
Fantasy Analysis:
Bowe is an inconsistent producer, but let's give him credit: Putting up more than 1,100 yards in a 2011 season where Bowe's numbers were pretty much held hostage by the team's horrible quarterback play is commendable. I highly doubt that he'll score 15 touchdowns again, but he's still in the prime of his career and should be a stellar WR2 if the Chiefs can stabilize their QB position.
