Bengals give 3-year deal to RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
The Cincinnati Bengals have found their replacement for Cedric Benson
. The Bengals signed running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis
to a three-year contract on Wednesday. He'll share carries with the quicker and faster Bernard Scott. Green-Ellis spent his first four NFL seasons with the New England Patriots and made his money as a short-yardage scorer. In the past two seasons combined, Green-Ellis rushed for 24 touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
However, it was alarming that BJGE's yards-per-carry average dropped from 4.4 in 2010 to just 3.7 last season. He's very similar to Benson, but at least he runs harder than Ced and doesn't turn the ball over. The move to Cincy will probably mean a few less touchdowns for the Law Firm, just because the Bengals' offense isn't as explosive as those Patriots offenses from recent seasons. He should get more touches than last year's 190, but since he'll be sharing with Scott and maybe someone else, I would consider BJGE an RB3 in standard leagues. For the Patriots, we're looking at a timeshare between Shane Vareen and Stevan Ridley
right now, with a dash of Danny Woodhead
.
