QB Drew Stanton gets his wish as Jets trade him to Colts
Antonio Cromartie wasn't the only Jet to voice his displeasure with the team's acquisition of Tim Tebow. Backup quarterback Drew Stanton
signed with New York on March 16 and was reportedly promised the No. 2 QB job this season. Enter Tebow, exit the disgruntled Stanton. Stanton and his agent, Deryk Gilmore, demanded a trade, and Stanton got what he wanted Friday as the Jets traded him to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2012 sixth-round draft pick. The Jets also sent a 2012 seventh-round pick to Indy.
Soon after the trade became official, Gilmore tweeted this: "Excited for the #Colts to get @drewstanton a leader, winner, and QB not a gimmick to sell tickets."
Fantasy Analysis:
Of course, that tweet was deleted fairly quickly. But as you know, nothing is forever erased on the Internet. And regardless, you've got to love the Tebow smack talk.
Stanton ends up with the Colts to close off this triangle of quarterback movement -- Former Colt Peyton Manning signs with Denver, which leads to Tebow's trade to the Jets, who then deal their backup QB to Indy. If the season started today, Stanton would probably be the Colts' starter. But there is this Luck kid out there, so ....
No fantasy value here.
