WR Chad Ochocinco restructures contract to remain with Patriots
The New England Patriots won't be cutting wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. At least, not now. The 34-year-old Ochocinco has restructed his contract to stay on the team. He agreed to reduce his base salary for this season from $3 million to $1 million. He made $6 million in 2011. Ochocinco had the worst year of his 11-year career, by far, in his debut season with New England. He caught just 15 passes in 15 games and one touchdown. He averaged 80 catches and seven touchdowns per season from 2001-2010.
Fantasy Analysis:
So now all Ocho has to do is make the team. Can he beat out players such as Donte' Stallworth, Anthony Gonzalez and Matthew Slater? That will pretty much determine his status for 2012. In any case, no one should be expecting him to return to his previous form and put up numbers anywhere close to those averages. His fantasy value is nil.
